Imagine Dragons – It's Time lyrics

So this is what you meant
When you said that you were spent?
And now it's time to build from the bottom of the pit right to the top
Don't hold back
Packing my bags and giving the Academy a rain check

I don't ever wanna let you down
I don't ever wanna leave this town
'Cause after all this city never sleeps at night

It's time to begin, isn't it?
I get a little bit bigger but then I'll admit
I'm just the same as I was

Now don't you understand?
I'm never changing who I am

So this is where you fell
And I am left to sell
The path to Heaven runs through miles of clouded Hell right to the top
Don't look back
Turning to rags and giving the commodities a rain check

I don't ever wanna let you down
I don't ever wanna leave this town
'Cause after all this city never sleeps at night

It's time to begin, isn't it?
I get a little bit bigger but then I'll admit
I'm just the same as I was
Now don't you understand?
I'm never changing who I am

It's time to begin, isn't it?
I get a little bit bigger but then I'll admit
I'm just the same as I was

Now don't you understand?
I'm never changing who I am

This road never looked so lonely
This house doesn't burn down slowly
To ashes!
To ashes!

It's time to begin, isn't it?
I get a little bit bigger but then I'll admit
I'm just the same as I was
Now don't you understand?
I'm never changing who I am

It's time to begin, isn't it?
I get a little bit bigger but then I'll admit
I'm just the same as I was
Now don't you understand
?
I'm never changing who I am

I think the song is about growing up and discovering yourself after that metamorphosis. And then it's when you realize that even though you were influenced by many people and many circumstances, you're still true to your essence, and what makes you a wonderful person. It's also about moving on, from stage to stage, and about admitting to the fact that things change, and we change along them, and that even though sometimes those changes are scary they are what make life worthwhile.

This song is all about working your way up from the bottom. In the beginning he has fallen and then he says things like the path to heaven is through miles of hell. I also think that he is saying that even though he wants to get to the top, he isn't going to change just to please people.

I think this song is about a teenager who tries to find his own place in the world and tries to find his way without getting influenced by the opinions of others. He realises that we should be ourselves and not like others expect us to be. The singer is scared to start a new chapter in his life but he knows that he has to take a shot for his dreams and that he should never give up his dreams because they are a big part of him. The line with says the he quitts school tells us that we should go our own path even if it isn't the typical one and that we have to risk something if we want our dreams to coma true.

This song is basically a love song (but what pop song isn't nowadays?) But it's also much deeper than that. He says that he never address to let his girl down our leave this town. That's pretty self explanatory. In the chorus, I get a little bit bigger refers to his ego. And I'm never changing who I am status that he is happy with who he is. This really his hard because I'm trying to change the world, and my ego fluctuates. But to mention that I refuse to let down my girl. If she said "jump" I'd jump. The rest of the song builds no hidden meanings though. Except for the path to heaven leads through miles of coffee he'll. That means that we will all have struggled in our life. Some of us more than others.
