When the days are cold
And the cards all fold
And the saints we see
Are all made of gold

When your dreams all fail
And the ones we hail
Are the worst of all
And the blood's run stale

I wanna hide the truth
I wanna to shelter you
But with the beast inside
There's nowhere we can hide

No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed
This is my kingdom come
This is my kingdom come

When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It's where my demons hide
It's where my demons hide

Don't get too close
It's dark inside
It's where my demons hide

It's where my demons hide

When the curtain's call
Is the last of all
When the lights fade out
All the sinners crawl

So they dug your grave
And the masquerade
Will come calling out
At the mess you've made

Don't wanna let you down
But I am hell bound
Though this is all for you
Don't want to hide the truth

No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed

This is my kingdom come
This is my kingdom come

When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It's where my demons hide
It's where my demons hide

Don't get too close
It's dark inside
It's where my demons hide
It's where my demons hide

They say it's what you make
I say it's up to fate
It's woven in my soul
I need to let you go

Your eyes, they shine so bright
I wanna save that light
I can't escape this now

Unless you show me how

When you feel my heat
Look into my eyes
It's where my demons hide
It's where my demons hide
Don't get too close
It's dark inside
It's where my demons hide
It's where my demons hide
(Hide hide hide)

I think he has demons that are apart of him (apart of all of us). In her eyes he sees the "light" that could possibly save him. He must let her go because these demons have to stay hidden. But he finds out that the light is "truth" in disguise... The light overcomes the demons and he can truly love her and protect her... And she... Him.

I think when he says " look into me eyes, it's where my demons hide", i think he's battling problems. As if he has depression. And there's almost a monster in him. Only showing himself now and then, but you can see how broken he is in his eyes.
Also, i think he wants this girl to understand,
Hey, don't get to close. I have a lot of issues that you probably don't care about, and probably shouldn't.
But i can't be happy without you.
So he's trying to tell her that he needs her, to help him with the demons, and when they become too much, he has her to look into his eyes and make it all alright again.

I believe this song is about a man who knows he has darkness inside of him. He is trying to hide the truth of what the world is like to someone he loves. As said in the first lines that the saints we see are all made of gold means the only good we see are people in the past like saints. He knows what the world is like and wishes to shelter the one he loves from knowing. But at the same time his soul is turning dark and wants to protect the person from what he has become.

I believe that its about the guy trying to protect the one he loves but how can you protect someone from evil and greediness when its inside of us all? Plus no matter what you try it'll always be there. Also where you dig a grave of lies and you've made a mess of things.

I think he has demons that are apart of him (apart of all of us). In her eyes he sees the "light" that could possibly save him. He must let her go because these demons have to stay hidden, and he doesn't want to hurt her. He realizes that even if he is with her, it doesn't mean he will change. He is still the same greedy person he was before, unless he truly tries to change. Then he realizes that she should know the truth, the real him. He can't shelter her and protect her forever, he must trust her to know the truth. He realizes that "It's up to fate" and that he must let her go to protect her. Through out the whole song, he is battling with himself over whether to tell her, or to let her go in order to protect her. This is a very powerful and moving song. But to see the inspiration of the song, you need to look past the "demons" and "graves" and the other dark things in this song. Figure out what it is trying to say. I think we are all like this man. We all have "demons" inside us. We all are greedy and evil at times. But that isn't the point. The point is how we try to change, and what we choose to act off of.
