George Ezra – Listen To The Man lyrics

I feel your head resting heavy on your single bed
I want to hear all about it
Get it all of your chest, oh
I feel the tears and you're not alone, oh
When I hold you, well I won't let go, oh

Why should we care for what they're selling us anyway?
We're so younger than you know, whoa
You don't have to be there, babe
You don't have to be scared, babe
You don't need of plan of what you wanna do
Won't you listen to the man that's loving you

Your world keeps spinning and you can't jump off
But I will catch you if you fall I can't tell you enough

I hate to hear that you're feeling low
I hate to hear that you won't come home

Why should we care for what they're selling us anyway?
We're so younger than you know, whoa
You don't have to be there, babe
You don't have to be scared, babe
You don't need of plan of what you wanna do
Won't you listen to the man that's loving you, whoa, whoa, whoa.

Easy, easy and a one, two, three, oh
Easy, breazy if you come with me, oh
Easy, easy and a one, two, three, four, five, six, seven eight, nine, nine, nine, nine
.

You don't have to be there, babe
You don't have to be scared, babe
You don't need of plan of what you wanna do
Won't you listen to the man that's loving you, whoa, whoa, whoa

You don't have to be there, babe
You don't have to be scared, babe
You don't need of plan of what you wanna do
Won't you listen to the man that's loving you, whoa, whoa, whoa

    I think this song is actually about generations. Ian McKellen represents a father, or a grandfather, talking to their younger loved ones. I personally would rather to represent him as a grandfather, who's emotionally closer to a grandson than a father sometimes. In the videoclip you can see George Ezra frowning as most young people do when hearing advice from older ones. After all, our grandparents are the ones that are unconditionally "the men that are loving us". George says he's younger than Ian knows, meaning possibly that his grandpa's advices could never reach him, but Ian insists that he doesn't have to be there, or scared;

Don't judge me but I think this song is about that don't listen to what other people say. Stick with your guts but in this case the man. The man is you but you wont listen to that man because what other people might say. These days everyone is being so negative not positive and that negative energy gets spread and with nothing else to do they will make innocent people feel how they felt. I "think" I'm a good singer but all the people that hear me just make fun of me and just bullies me because I can't sing good but now I listen to myself and block dah god damn haters. :) Haters gotta hate.
