George Ezra – Budapest lyrics

My house in Budapest
My hidden treasure chest,
Golden grand piano
My beautiful Castillo

For you
You
I’d leave it all

My acres of a land
I have achieved

It may be hard for you to,
Stop and believe

But for you
You
I’d Leave it all

Give me one good reason
Why I should never make a change
And baby if you hold me
Then all of this will go away

My many artifacts
The list goes on
If you just say the words
I’ll up and run

Oh, to you
You
I’d leave it all

Give me one good reason
Why I should never make a change
And baby if you hold me
Then all of this will go away

Give me one good reason
Why I should never make a change
And baby if you hold me
Then all of this will go away

My friends and family
They, don’t understand
They fear they’d lose so much
If, you took my hand

But, for you
You,
I’d lose it all.

Give me one good reason
Why I should never make a change
And baby if you hold me
Then all of this will go away

Give me one good reason
Why I should never make a change
And baby if you hold me
Then all of this will go away

My house in Budapest
My hidden treasure chest,
Golden grand piano
My beautiful castillo

You
You
I’d leave it all.

To me this song is talking about how you can have what seems like every thing to some people but you can still have an empty space in your heart. What he is missing is some one to love him. He also says "my friends and family they don't understand". To me this means that there will be obstacles, but if your love is strong enough (in this case it is) it can withstand anything thrown at you.

Plain and simple, this is a love song expressing that he'd give up anything and everything for his partner: any material wealth he's acquired, playing music (grand piano, Castillo), and even (this is the big one) his disapproving friends and family who don't understand the relationship. How has no one posted this quite obvious meaning yet?

When I first heard this song it was catchy and it still is. Love the dialect and the music, very pretty. But after hearing it several times I wondered what the heck he was talking about. Idk what the meaning behind the song is but I did come to the realization that it sounds an awful like a married guy singing to their mistress. "For you I'd leave it all" sounds like, hey I'll leave my wife and give her everything in the divorce just for you baby.
Lol, idk, just a thought. Kinda sounds like an affair.
Because why else would some one have such riches and then have to lose them to be with someone? That's really all I can figure would be the reason.
    Still a pretty song though.
