You found your greener pastures
In a mansion on the hill
With a flashy foreign car to drive
And lots of time to kill.
Now my mind keeps on remembering
The days of me and you
But when we were down to nothing,
Nothin' sure looked good on you.
You said you needed simple things
That I had plenty of
And through the days of dark and rain
We could always live on love.
With his style in life he lured you
And you could not refuse
But when we were down to nothin',
Nothin' sure looked so good on you.
--- Instrumental ---
When you honeymooned in Paris
It was carried on the news
And I heard you laughed your cares away
On a Caribbean cruise.
You were always one for dreamin',
Now your dreams can all come true
But when we were down to nothin',
Nothin' sure looked good on you.
You said you needed simple things
That I had plenty of
And through the days of dark and rain
We could always live on love.
With his style in life he lured you
And you could not refuse
But when we were down to nothin',
Nothin' sure looked so good on you.
Yes,when we were down to nothin',
Nothin' sure looked so good on you...

When they met, she promised him that all she needed was his love to be happy. She told him that even though he didn't have too much to offer in the way of material wealth, they would grow old in each other's arms. She assured him that even if all they had to eat was "Kraft Dinner" (Canadians it's Macaroni & Cheese a side, NOT a meal!) and homemade soup, she would be satisfied with that. BUT SHE LIED. After he fully committed to her (perhaps even leaving his life in Texas behind, but then having trouble finding an income without a work permit while her home country dragged it's heels processing him), she spent the days (while he was taking care of the kids n' stuff) playing Mafia Wars and Skype-screwing her way around until she found someone with $ that she thought she could swindle. In the missing final verse though, the money-man just hit it n' quit it, and so she turned to her oldest child's father (whom she had 18 years prior gone into hiding to escape when she became pregnant because he was a biker who'd murdered someone, and lied to and threatened her) only to find he'd remained nothing but a pill head, so her hunt for money-love continues with a never-ending stream of potential partners filing through to see exactly how good "nothing" looks on her, and it's looking worse n' worse as the days go by. That's what he was saying.

I think, the singer try to say that he has found the hapyness in her arms, he means she gives other sense to the life and it does seem all time is good for them
