Knowing that flyleaf is a christian band, i would say that this song is about god's longing to be the keeper of our hearts and his hurt at how some of his children fall away from his love and how he is always here and waiting for us to come back to his light

Its not about haveing a baby. There are two versions of this song. If you know anything about flyleaf you would have realized there are almost allways two versions of a song. So both lyrics are right. "of my own heart making your blood flow so that your chest can rise and fall" "of my own heart griveing in your hands you crush me when you run that way" and "in the shadows you 'slept fine', or 'shant find' and when will you whisper to me so you can rest" so you see both lyrics are correct depending on which version of the song you have.

I think i found out why there is a lyric discrepency:
i've been listening to different videos on yt, and i realized that there's more than one version. I think the lyrics were changed when the new version was recorded. I feel so smart right now. :d

I think in this song, lacey is singing what god is trying to say to some of his children;

When i heard this song the first time, i started bawling. Every now and then, i still do. I felt like god was speaking to me through this song, and i felt that after all the time i was alone, god was there waiting for me.

Seeing as this is a christian band, it wouldn't be much of a surprize if that's what the meaning really is. I like this song a lot not only because of what it means to me, but i think this is the first song i've heard where the person singing what god is trying to say is a female.

Flyleaf did an excelent job on the song; i'd like to hear it acoustic. :]

I absolutely see (or hear ;)) how it could be christ waiting for you, i also see the more romantic side to it. Either way i love it!

These are the wrong lyrics but i think its about somebody loving someone else.. Like a crush.. Or you kno how people get with opposite sex bffs. They fall in love- but the guy has another girl while his frined just sits back and watches "your lips touched every hand but mine, if you choose me im waiting for you". But its what it means to me- im using it currently to decribe my non-existent lovelife- i like him- he will never kno. Sadly. This is my favy song :)

when will you get back to me so we can rest? " is wrong too

When i hear this song i think of how my relationship use to be... Its sad a freespirited dude comes and goes as he pleases.. The girl is just waiting to be whole agian. Its probebly about god or something but thats what i think this songs about.

It sounds like someone is having a baby "of my own heart, making your blood flow so that your chest can rise and fall. " and the mom is telling her baby already that she will always be there for him and that no matter she'll love him.
