It's about how her mother abused her as a child. It's a really bitter-sweet song. But i think it's her remembering that hard part of her life and forgiving her mother for what she did and understanding it because she loves her and has moved on.

Since flyleaf's music is christian based, i think this song is about how she was abused as a child, and with the help of god, forgave her forgiver... Idk maybe i'm wrong... Maybe i'm right... Who knows?!

I don't know how many people realize this but a lot of flyleaf's music is christian based. "long december... Your hands coming down... " i think refers to the birth of jesus. "i only noticed your face... " her thinking of the abused and torture jesus was subjected to. "im shedding my skin... But its not time... " eternal life, leaving the flesh behind. "my scars are yours... You stood where i stand... " i think she's referring back to the death of christ. Just food for thought, but after listening different songs from the band, that is definitely what i get from

Well, what paramorexflyleafx said is true
lacey was abused when she was little and was forced to grow up too fast
but she understands that the person who abused her was also abused.

I think it's about her being physically abused. She was forced to grow up too fast dealing with it, then realizes that the abuser was in the same situation as she was, and forgives the abuser. She then states she's done healing and isn't going to be bitter about it anymore.

I don't think this is a song about lacey explaining her experiance of being raped like "jaktheedancer3" said. Lacey mosely was'nt raped. I personaly think this song was about her being abused,then being able to get over it and move on. Anywho, this is a very good song like all of flyleafs' work.

I like this song...

But it's a bitter-sweet song... The beat is so great,
there's undertone of pain is suffering,
but in the end... She wa able to cope with it...

So great

Honestly, i see this song as lacey explaining her experience with being raped.

She may have gone through that, but it's just making her stronger, still leaving that bitter memory.
