Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand
Jesus freaks out in the street
Handing tickets out for God
Turning back she just laughs
The boulevard is not that bad
Piano man he makes his stand
In the auditorium
Looking on she sings the songs
The words she knows the tune she hums
But oh how it feels so real
Lying here with no one near
Only you and you can hear me
When I say softly slowly
Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
You had a busy day today [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/e/elton_john/tiny_dancer.html ]
Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
You had a busy day today
Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand
But oh how it feels so real
Lying here with no one near
Only you and you can hear me
When I say softly slowly
Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
You had a busy day today
Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
You had a busy day today
What a pretty song. The foo fighter's live cover is good aswell, but nothing compares to the original.

Sounds like elton had an affair with the seamstress for his band to me (she had a busy day-doesnt sound like a groupie). She obviously traveled with him on the bus (counting headlights on the highway). And she was backstage singing along when he (piano man) performed.

You youngings think this song was written for almost famous... It wasn't.. Just part of the soundtrack... Sorry it's about bernies gal pal... The ballerina who had a hard time adjusting to life on the west coast..
I love this song. It's seriously sweet. This song was on the office if anybody likes that show. If you're curious as to what episode it was the dundee's episode.
