Devon
Won't go to heaven
She's just another lost soul, about to be mine again
Leave her
We will receive her
It is beyond your control
Will you ever meet again
Devon
One of Eleven
Who had been rendered unwhole
As a little child.
She was taken
And then forsaken
You will remember it all
Let it fill your mind again
Devon lies beyond this portal
Take the word of one immortal
Give your soul to me
For eternity
Release your life
To begin another time with her
End your grief with me
There's another way
Release your life
Take your place inside the fire with her
Sever
Now and forever
You're just another lost soul about to be mine again
See her, you'll never free her
You must surrender it all
If you'd like to meet again [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/d/disturbed/inside_the_fire.html ]
Fire
For you desire
As she begins to turn cold for the final time
You will shiver
Till you deliver
You will remember it all
Let it fill your mind again
Devon lies beyond this portal
Take the word of one immortal
Give your soul to me
For eternity
Release your life
To begin another time with her
End your grief with me
There's another way
Release your life
Take your place inside the fire with her
[Guitar Solo]
Give your soul to me
For eternity
Release your life
To begin another time with her
End your grief with me
There's another way
Release your life
Take your place inside the fire with her
Devon
One of Eleven
Who had been rendered unwhole
As a little child.
She was taken,
And then forsaken
You will remember it all
Let it fill your mind again
Its about a guy finding his girlfriend who commited suicide and starts hearing the devil.. Give your soul to me for eternity release your life to begin another time with her.. And tries to get him to kill himself
Guitarist dan donegan explained to artist direct about this tale of someone plunging into the afterlife in the hope of reuniting with his deceased girlfriend: "it's a really dark vision and the song, the lyrics and the meaning, is very dark. It's the darkest stuff that i think david (singer david draiman) has ever written lyrically. It's about a girl he was in a relationship with. She's committed suicide, and he just has the voice of the devil over his shoulder trying to provoke him to take his own life to join her again, because the only chance for him to be with her again is if he takes his life. We're not condoning suicide off of this, it's just more of the temptation to join a girlfriend that was very confused and messed up and wanted out. "
Well, you can pretty much see the meaning in the music video. He does come home to find his girlfriend dead, and he gets very depressed about it. He ends up contemplating suicide, and he nearly does because satan's grasp is pulling at him, telling him he should. That it's the only way he can see her again. It is sung from satan's point of view, trying to manipulate him into sacrificing himself to satan. But obviously, david's still alive.
This song is about a real life event that happened to the lead singer. When david draimen was 16 years old his girlfriend committed suicide. In an interview david said that the song is about him standing over his girlfriend's dead body the devil telling him to kill himself so he can see her again hell.
When i first heard the song i had no idea what it was about. I really like it, even after seeing the music video. If youre confused about what this song is talking about then you need to watch the music video
Ohmygosh!!! I listened to this song cuz my friend asked me to. I was sooo freaked out. Yah see, my name's devin!!! Its pronounced the same way as it is in this song. Its just spelled differently. Freaky... O. O
It depends on what religion you mean the religion i and `bout 10,000-20,000 people believe in suicide is wrong but its not that cant go to heaven if you do it
After seeing the music video i think his voice is like the devil in the video part his girl friend wife wat ever u want to call her comitted suicide and he is be tempted to kill himself to join her in hell
I agree with darkdragon977. It has a different meaning to everyone. It makes me feel unwhole, and like something is missing in my life... And that's just one of a thousand other meanings.
From reading the lyrics and reading what nature9675 said, it seems to me more like the song is like words from like a demon or the devil giving the person visions of what devon looks like from hell and reminding the person of those memories then telling the person that if he committed suicide that he would be able to join devon inside the fire.

"inside the fire, of their new album indestructible, deal with another rough part of his childhood, being the suicide of his girlfriend back in school. David was 14, and attended a private boarding school, she was 18 and a freshman at university. They met at a spring break party. Little did he know, she was also a heroin addict. David tried to get her to lay off, but unfortunately failed. Fearing disapproval from his family he then decided to end the relationship. They met once again a year after, at the following spring break party. Leaving early to avoid confrontation, david went back to his parent's house, where he got a call from a friend the next day, saying she had died of an overdose. David also stated in the interview that, in the ambulance, all she wanted was for him to be with her. He had nightmares for years afterwards, but he eventually got over it, until very recently, while working on the lyrics for the indestructible album, he started to have them again. In the video of "inside the fire" he depicts what dealing with suicide could mean for those with religious backgrounds or beliefs, in that suicide is a sin and you can't go to heaven for it. After his ex-girlfriend's death, david got into a downward spiral involving drugs as well, but had an epiphany at the age of 18. He then realized the error of his ways, and went cold turkey. "
