This is a creepy version of one of my favorite lullaby. I wish they would just sing it. Whispering it just makes it upsetting and something you don't want to sing to your child. I'm singing this for solo fest this year. I'm looking for people singing this so i know if i'm singing this right. This song i have to say attempting to be a critic, is pretty weird and not in a good way sorry ppl who "spoke this" but it's just the truth

I hate this song! It makes me cry. Birds and buttahflies pecking out his eyes. Poor lil thing's crying mammy... Breaks my heart.

It is beautiful!!! I t is talking about when a child sleeps soundly, it will wake up happily with a day full of gifts. It is a lullaby from the 1800's to now used to hush a baby for nap time or in the old days(sleepy-land)

this was writen by a mother that was also a black slave. Her child was neglected and died. She sang this to her master's child. Actucally, this got change because it was so violent. It is spouse to be " birds and butterflies pecking out his eyes. " it is a very sad song. No wonder why we see so much distubence in younge children. Well thats probally not the whole cause. Just saying it almost as bad as "ring around the rosie! "
