I'd like to take this time to detach my jaw,
And really take a look. I think that I'm done.
Put away this old guitar and on my way out
Hang my vocal cords up on the door.
If I could just do these things
(if I could do these things)
If I could maybe do these things
Each and every day wouldn't pass
The way that they so often do
That they so often do
Maybe just maybe
Life would be everything we wanted it to be.
I could even peel the skin hiding my face
And ballroom dance with the cartilage of my nose
Just to show you how to really move [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/c/chiodos/life_is_a_perception_of_your_own_reality.html ]
I'll show you how to really move
If I could just do these things
If I could maybe do these things
Each and every day wouldn't pass
The way that they so often do
That they so often do
Maybe just maybe
Life would be everything we wanted it to be.
I'll show you how to really move
I'll show you how to really move
If I could just do these things
(if I could do these things)
If I could maybe do these things
Each and every day wouldn't pass
The way that they so often do
That they so often do
Maybe just maybe
Life would be everything we wanted it to be.
Reality in one individual human being's mind may be completely different from what is to be seen as reality in anothers.

I think it means that if we were just to be our own person, life would be a lot easier than hiding. Hiding gets so exhausting.

My translation of this particular song is that of which the title implicates. That life is what you make it and the way you perceive your own reality is going to be exactly that. But he only wishes he were better at doing the things he does. And that way life would be just the way he wants, perfect. But you have to learn to live with and accept life's imperfections and make the best of every situation.
If he just kept his mouth shut and didn't use words but movement, he would or she would be alot happier,
apparently his mouth gets him into alot of trouble. Actions speak louder than words.
