All That Remains – Two Weeks lyrics
And you neglected I called you out don't please
I said we're stronger than this now
You resurrected mistakes years past it seemed
And they exist to still haunt you

And still you feel like the loneliness
Is better replaced by this
I don't believe it this way
And I can see the fear in your eyes
I've seen it materialize
Growing stronger each day

I could see it as you turned to stone
Still clearly I can hear you say
Don't leave, don't give up on me
Two weeks and you ran away
I remember don't lie to me
You couldn't see that it was not that way
Swear I never gave up on you

I wanted nothing but for that trust again
And brick by brick you would take it
You feared of phantoms and none exist but you
You still saw fit to destroy it

And still you feel like the loneliness
Is better replaced by this
I don't believe it this way
And I can see the fear in your eyes
I've seen it materialize
Growing stronger each day

I could see it as you turned to stone
Still clearly I can hear you say
Don't leave don't give up on me
Two weeks and you ran away
I remember don't lie to me
You couldn't see that it was not that way
Swear I never gave up on you

And you neglected I called you out don't please
I said we're stronger than this now
You feared of phantoms and none exist but you
You still saw fit to destroy it

And I can see the fear in your eyes
I've seen it materialize
Growing stronger each day

I could see it as you turned to stone
Still clearly I can hear you say
Don't leave don't give up on me
Two weeks you ran away

I could see it as you turned to stone
Still clearly I can hear you say
Don't leave don't give up on me
Two weeks and you ran away
I remember don't lie to me
You couldn't see that it was not that way
Swear I never gave up on you

I could see it as you turned to stone
Still clearly I can hear you say
Don't leave don't give up on me
Two weeks and you ran away
I remember don't lie to me
You couldn't see that it was not that way
Swear I never gave up on you

The song is a story that unfolds like this to me:
Two weeks ago she left, now she is back. They start fighting and she brings up the past (either his mistake or another mans). He claims that they should be past all this now. She continues to shut him out with a cold heart due to her fear of their relationship and yet she pleas for him to stick around since she loves him. He hopes that she can start trusting him by building their trust slowly. She still is caught up in her phantoms and looks for an escape. The man clearly in shock says 'do not lie to me I know what we had was not like it was before, we have something special and I will not give up on you. ' In the end it sounds like her shoulder is still turned to him and he is still fighting for her.
I would like to add that all the other comments are valid as well I just think this is the literal translation of the lyrics.

This is an old story. I have seen it all before. A basically well adjusted man has fallen in love with a woman who is traumitized by her past. Probably through a life of addiction and co-dependent, abusive relationships. She is emotionally crippled by her memories and unable to move on. The man has little experience with sort of woman and does not understand why she prefers chaos to the happiness he offers. Finally he decides he will not give up on her and vows to see her through this darkness. She leaves anyway, without warning, two weeks later.
I have seen this story played out before. Sadly the resulting confusion and hurt starts the man off on the same path the woman was already walking.

He's in a relationship with a girl, and has been for quite some time (obviously more than a year, as it says "years") but he made a mistake, probably in the beginning. He could see her turn to stone because it's been getting worse since he made that mistake. "we're stronger than this now" because he feels enough time has passed and that she should forget about the mistake.
Don't lie to me, because he says over and over that it won't happen again, yet she won't believe him because it did happen once. At the end of every fight though, she decided to stay. However, 2 weeks after this particular one she decided it was over.
I pretty much went through that, so that's what it means to me.

To me, it sounds like the two are already a couple. The guy had done something in the past to hurt her. Even though he feels their relationship is stronger than it was then, she still fears he will do it again. I think he left her for whatever reason, and she asked him, "don't leave, don't give up on me" but he left for two weeks and came back. She asked him not to lie, probably about what happened during those two weeks, but he tried to explain it wasn't that way. He wants to gain her trust back, but she is still thinking about the past and what he did, and can not let it go.

Lyrics=I wanted nothing but for that trust again
With him saying this, I think he made the mistake from years ago and she tries to give him a second chance, she needs time and asks him to stay, but she just ends up getting cold and angry by the haunting memories of what he did(Cheating?), she never forgave him and it destroyed the relationship. The thing with trust issues is when you don't believe the other person you start creating phantom ideas of what actually takes place despite what he tells her. He says he never lied to her again but she can't get over the trust issue and doesn't believe anything he says.
These all sound good, but to me I get that it is a ripple effect of what happens when trust is an issue. *Shrugs.

You have your chance with a girl but she wants to wait it out but then backs out for someone else and you gave her your heart and trust telling her how you feel and she took it all away from you leaving you with nothing but yet you can still feel her inside of you and you cannot let go and you know that she was scared, petrified. But when you talked every word meant the world and you would never forget and never will and the sorrow seems to be killing you but you find your own way to get around it and live your life to the fullest with or without her.

I believe its is about a couple in a realationship and one of them has issues with addiction (to drugs and/or alcohol) one keeps telling the other one how they want to be clean and sobor but addiction keeps pulling them back in, while the other sits there and watches. I believe anyone that has been in a relationship like that after reading the lyrics will see it from this point of view too.

I'm not 100% sure but it sounds like a song that could fit a couple trying to work it out. One misses the other and the other plays around.
If they had a rough past it makes sense that loneliness is better than being together, but one believes they can work it out, and the other fears that it wont happen and its beginning to consume her.
But eventually one of them gives up, but the other one never did.

My favorite song, I feel it closely relates a situation I just went through. She is insecure about herself or something from her past making the relationship complicated. For whatever reason, they broke up. I'm guessing he left her because he needed his space or needed to tke care of something. She felt abandoned and neglected (she thinks he gave up on her and that there are other girls or "phantoms"). He left and did his thing then comes back or tries to come back but she is now full of resentment and mistrust. She want's to be with him but is scared of being left again. So now she can't or doesn't want to tell him. He can tell just by looking at her that it's not the same as before and that now she seems to want "her" space. She tells him nothing and just leaves acting as if she never had cared at all and it doesn't affect her. Or else he left for two weeks, came back and she felt neglected and just blew him off.? Food for thought.

Relates to a life lesson I learned. When you see that something is wrong in the eyes of someone don't accept no as an answer, talk to them. Remindes me of my best friend who committed suicide. No one ever cared to talk to him about what he was going through. Sure enough around me he would fake some smiles. But two weeks after I last heard from him, he drowned himself. Tied an old car motor to his ankle and dropped off of a low bridge into deep water. So if you see someone who is down, anyone, talk to them they want comfort.

I think she was in one or more abusive relationships and has been traumatized by this, but she still comes back to them because to her it's better than being alone and it's the only relationship she knows how to seek out. She knew the guy before and he's seen it happening, and now she turns to him and he's in love with her, but she's still haunted by her mistake of being with those other guys and never listening to him, so he entreats her not to give up on him now. He remembers all of this but she doesn't want to admit it happened so it contributes to her past haunting her, and eventually she leaves (after two weeks, I presume).
    But I don't know.

You're in love with this girl, and you pour your everything out for her, to her. You try sooo hard to make her believe that your real, and not like her past relationships, and that you care. But she shows this hidden fear, possibly one of the past, she's afraid that you're not gonnna care, but you keep telling her, adn showing her that you're not gonna leave her, or give up. You swear it. Slowly by day and night you get the feelings, the very dark thoughts of failure seem to be reality, but deep inside you know its your mind screwing with you, and you feel this deep source of passion within you to keep fighting for her, cause you know eventually, you will have her trust, time will tell, and the chance is yours.
