Have not the strongest
And closest ties been bound so long
I've called upon them
They remind me where I'm from
With deep conviction
I am connected cross the miles
With out them nothing worth relying on
It's been so long since I could say
I've needed anything stronger
We can't be wrong when we have ties that bind us
If I rely and I know the strength
In those who taught me of the
Power in the ties that bind [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/all_that_remains/chiron.html ]
When I turn inward
And look for strength within my self
And demonstrations of courage
Are the result
If inspiration is wholly shared
Then more is the gain
Then I will follow
The selfless actions displayed
It's been so long since I could say
I've needed anything stronger
We can't be wrong when we have ties that bind us
If I rely and I know the strength
In those who taught me of the
Power in the ties that bind
We are made powerful (x2)
It's been so long since I could say
I've needed anything stronger
We can't be wrong when we have ties that bind us
If I rely and I know the strength
In those who taught me of the
Power in the ties that bind
Pseudo-hyginus, fabulae 274 (trans. Grant) (roman mythographer c2nd a. D. ) :
"inventors and their inventions . . . Chiron, son of saturnus [kronos, cronus], first used herbs in the medical art of surgery. "
"cerberus is a fierce, pitiless, flesh-eating watchdog, the guardian of hell, stationed by the river styx. Let's get our greek gods and their myths straight.
I'm not quite sure on this, but i personally think this song is more about a relationship between two or more people, and not greek mythology. I say this because while superdrummer and vincevalfan's meanings make sense, there is just one part that doesn't; when he says "we can't be wrong when we have the ties that bind us. " if he was indeed speaking of himself as chiron, it wouldn't make sense for him to say "we" and "us". Plus, if you read the rest of the lyrics that all that remains has written, a song about greek mythology doesn't exactly fit in there.
Umm i hate to say this superdrummer, but chiron was the centaur that trained many heroes throughout greek mythology, for he was immortal as long as there was need for him. Charon was the ferryman to the underworld, not necessarily hell, since the underworld also held the elysium fields, the greek equivilant to heaven... And the the field of asphodel, basically lymbo... But your meaning of the song is pretty accurate, and don't worry, it's easy to mix the two characters up
I believe that this is about greek mythology. Chiron is the guardian of hell. He transports souls to hell in his boat. I do agree with the others in the sense of not asking for help. He never asks for any help. He does his job by himself and strengthens himself that way. Which is why he has never had to ask for anything stronger.
Not sure if i'm right here, but i think he's talking about how he's never really asked for help until he realizes just what other people like his friends and famiily can do for him, and then he finds it nearly impossible to live without their presence
