Deep down inside, we are all different. Nothing outside us matters, and we should not be limited by were we come from, or what we believe in. Nothing should affect the way we feel, not what we believe in nor what we think is right. We should all act like who we are, how are hearts beat.

I completely disagree with people who have a religious take on this song. It's a beautiful song and it isn't denying anything. The song is about not believing in blacks (e.g. War and sin) or whites (e.g. Peace and starts) but i think it's about the grey area that everyone has within us. 'the truth in who we are' - he's saying he doesn't believe in this and that, because everybody has a bit of everything and there is no right and wrong - there is just human nature - 'the beating of our hearts'

We are not defined by what we believe but our actions and who we are.
