I believe in nothing
Not the end and not the start
I believe in nothing
Not the earth and not the stars
I believe in nothing
Not the day and not the dark
I believe in nothing
But the beating of our hearts

I believe in nothing
100 suns until we part
I believe in nothing
Not in Satan, not in God
I believe in nothing
Not in peace and not in war
I believe in nothing
But the truth in who we are

The previous interpretations of this song are all ridiculous, none of them have considered the rest of the album as a whole, to think they actually attempted to analyze this song without the rest of the album is hilarious, so with that said, here is my attempt at it.

This song is just one part of a whole, the songs leading up to this point is showing his desperation an sadness, loss of hope and depression. This is the ultimate piece of all these songs, the climax of the bad feelings, hurricane comes up and it shows a little piece of him wanting things to get better, then closer to the edge represents a realization of how things are and where they can go, and that he is the cause of his own hurt, he cant apologize to himself. Then search and destroy comes along and he is ready seriously start again, this is where the power of willingness really shows. And if youve read this far you can read the lyrics to alibi and judge the rest of the music for yourself.

This is an amazing album. And those of you who think just because this one song says "i dont beleive in god" is his trying to show hes an athiest or something like that, you need to read just one verse of the bible without reading the chapter and see how you interpret it differently, once you know the chapter youll have a different interpretation of it.

Deep down inside, we are all different. Nothing outside us matters, and we should not be limited by were we come from, or what we believe in. Nothing should affect the way we feel, not what we believe in nor what we think is right. We should all act like who we are, how are hearts beat.

    I speak from personal experiences.

I completely disagree with people who have a religious take on this song. It's a beautiful song and it isn't denying anything. The song is about not believing in blacks (e.g. War and sin) or whites (e.g. Peace and starts) but i think it's about the grey area that everyone has within us. 'the truth in who we are' - he's saying he doesn't believe in this and that, because everybody has a bit of everything and there is no right and wrong - there is just human nature - 'the beating of our hearts'

    I am the result of 1 sperm out of 100 000 000 to reach 1 egg, and i am 1 person out of 7 000 000 000 and i am only 1 our of 30 000 000 species on 1 planet out of 8 in 1 solar system out of 100 000 000 galaxies in 1 of 100 000 000 in the universo, which for all we know could be 1 out of 100 000 000 universes.

I dont care how i got here, or why we are here, all i know is i am alive, and i will be dam sure to live life to the fullest.
If there is a god, i know he dam well respect me for this, if not hes not a very nice guy...

This song is amazing, does it matter what he believes the words are his truth. People will condemn you for anything you believe, no matter what. If he said he believed in islam then it would be a problem as well. Let everyone live to there own belief, no one forces u to belief in god so no one should be forced to believe in god.
