Michael Jackson wrote this song for Ryan White who died from aids at the age of 19. Nobody would have ever guessed, least of all Michael, this song would one day tell the story of his own life. I love this song because it compares your loved one to all the beautiful things in life, and how they never seem to last long enough. "Born to amuse, to inspire to delight. Here one day, gone one night..." That line sums up Michael Jackson's life. He amused us with his beautifully unusuality. He inspired us with his music and his life. He delighted us with his prescence. He was here one day, and gone one night. Much, much too soon. Rip Michael! I haven't forgot you yet, I never will.

This is perhaps one of Michael's most inspiring songs! Although it was not written by Michael himself, you could tell he really felt this song in his heart by the way he performed it. The best performance I ever saw of it was at the end of his This is It movie. This song teaches us to look at that man or woman in the mirror, and get our own lives together before we can help others. We must start with ourselves. Thanks for this song, Michael, rip.

I first heard this song at the memorial service for the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Stevie's performance was moving and very emotional. Death is tragic no matter when it happens, but, none of us would have ever dreamed that Michael would die on a clear, blue, sunny day. And we all ask the question, "Why didn't you stay?" Great job on the lyrics! I know this song wasn't written for Michael, but, it was perfect for him.
