When Jesus was crucified at the cross, he was forsaken by God because he carried our sins. 2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
He was separated from God because of the sins of the world. Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
He was forsaken so that we'll never be forsaken. He who is the light of the world, endured darkness to give us salvation. Because of the amazing love of God for us, he gave His only Son so we'll have eternal life.
