The song just simply means letting go of someone you reaaly love and sacrificing evrything coz you know that wud be the ryt thing and you wont hurt a lot of people. Even though you know you wont be the one to share that love to the person you wud set him free to wer he wud be happy. Recently this song has been a part of my luvs story : I had this guy for 3 yrs and 9 months I thought we wud stay together for gud but then with just a snap of finger evrything changed. Evrything turned upside down. He got married to another woman. And I was deeply hurt. We never ended our relationship because we haven't talked and seen each other yet. But I guess I have to say gudbye coz now I'm not the one he wud need I am not the one hu wud hold him tyt now. And I know it will never work out.
