This is a song to Robert Johnson, considered by many to be the grandfather of the blues. He was known to be a classy dressing stud who depended on the women wherever he played to give him a place to sleep, eat, and, well, you know. He was told often by his good friend Lonnie Brown that he should never take sips out of bottles given to him by strangers in these juke joints. Jealous boyfriends and jealous husbands weren't to be trusted! Well, apparently Robert did not take heed and was poisoned by a sip he took from a bottle given to him by exactly that, a jealous husband. He was weakened by the poison and eventually caught pneumonia, and back in 1936, if you caught pneumonia you were pretty much gone. Mr. Johnson knew the girl was married, and soon, he was six feet deep and buried. thank you for the music, Robert!
