This song is about lovers who experienced the height of love in the winter (we got carried way over the rooftops). They rushed into marriage (let's get married). The winter signifies that even if everything else was dead, they were alive and high on love(over the rooftops). Then they rushed through life (all summer we just hurried) and in their busy life, love was forsaken. Then they started to fight badly and he didn't want it to continue (I don't want to battle from beginning to end). He knew it would lead to a cycle of revenge where you hurt me and I hurt you. Death and it's friends were trying to end their love and he wasn't going to follow (I don't want to follow death and all his friends). Instead, he begged his lover to not be distant, but draw close to him (come on over). He wanted his love to be patient with their relationship (don't worry), and enjoy the comfort his love (come on over).
