This song is about the untimely death from aids of a drag queen by the name of Angel. She was in a relationship with Collins at the time of her death and they were the only two people in their group of friends, immediately after Angel's funeral, everyone found themselves head in their different directions. (Yes, I've seen both the musical and the movie, I also can't listen to this song without crying).
