Ed is telling us how he woke up in the night one day. Supposedly, a smoke alarm went off and woke him up from his sleeping. When he was looking for his girlfriend, she had been gone, but she left a note saying "I'll be back in five" (five meaning five minuets). "Well I'm still waiting for that moment to arrive" means that Ed's lover never came back.

Ed is recalling all the things he never told his lover he liked about her. He never told her he likes all the small wrong things she does, like dancing off-beat, or singing the lyrics to a song she doesn't know well.

Ed is explaining to us that his friends are reminding him of the past. When all of them were in school together being taught, Ed didn't learn a single thing. They say that's okay though, because Ed knows how to sing and make a living out of it. However, he doesn't "know anything other than that"
