The chorus talks about how a couple can seem really happy to those around them, even if that's not the case. It specifically says that even if their lives ended there, in that car, by the time someone found them, no one would be able to tell they were fighting, they'd still think that was a happy couple.

I believe this talks about a person who is fighting against his own self. Even though they know they need to change, they are still doing the same things that led them in this fight and no longer feel like they can do anything more to overcome it.

The way I feel the lyrics, is that their loved ones should not hate him because of his wrongdoings and instead, when they feel alone they should remember him and focus their mind on that memory alone and block everything else out.

I believe these are the words of a person facing death, or at least thinking of it. What he asks for, is when the time of his death comes, the people around him forget all his wrongdoings and focus on those things worth remembering him for.
