* From the songwriter * I'm not sure any song really means more to me than this one. My breakup from Ciera was probably one of the hardest things I'd ever gone through. I didn't sing a single song, didn't play a note, refused to write a lyric for months and months. After enough time had gone by I looked back on our relationship with a new perspective, one where it was a little more clear to see that I simply was not what she needed in her life. I decided I would make music once again. This song is all about my quest to become ok again and her mission to move on to bigger and better things no matter how much I wanted her to stay with by my side.

* From the songwriter * If ever there was a song to express shear untamed lust, this is the anthem! I wanted to write a song much like that of "War In Your Bedroom" by A Change Of Pace. Somehow a little southern rock influence found it's way into the final sound. My philosophy about song writing… never resist the natural pull of a song to be as great as possible, despite your initial vision of the end result. So I embraced the inner country in me in order to write one of my favorite songs of mine and my for sure favorite to play.

* From the artist* This is a cover of the 1997 hit "One Headlight" by the Wallflowers. Sitting in my car alone one sunny afternoon it dawned on me that this would make an excellent dance song, mostly due to the pulsating rhythm of the bass guitar. I went to the studio the very next day and tried some different synth patches on this song. I'm not sure what the song is really about but for me I feel it expresses a disappointment for the sad life of someone who has died without purpose. I believe we all think about death fairly often, it's part of what makes us human. So for me, even though the lyrics are deeply sad, they hold an extremely important message. What started as a simple recording experiment for fun turned out to be a really great musical moment captured on tape.

* From the songwriter* Another song about my first love Ciera. After we broke up (the first time) I'd sent her a text message with the almost exact words to the chorus. They weren't lyrics at the time so much as they were words I truly meant. After reading back our text message argument I realized that those words had a rather musical rhythm to them, I was then inspired to right our official "break-up song".

* From the songwriter* When I'm not working on projects for Magnolia I'm probably teaching guitar lessons back at home in Riverside. I have had many students come and go in my time as a teacher but one in particular by the name of Simone was unlike any other I had met. I wrote this song before she ever really learned how I felt about her. It was written mostly for myself as a song writing experiment to see if I could challenge myself and write something with a "jazzy" twist. The lyrics are all about waiting for her to show up every week for her lesson so I could listen as I made her play and sing songs to me as part of her "lesson" for the week.

* From the songwriter * This song was written about my first love, Ciera, as are most of my songs. When we were first getting to know each other I wanted to find a way to express to her the immense love I felt for her at the time. Little did I realize what an impact writing this song would have on my life. In a way it's what really pushed me to decide to do music as a career. It changed my life forever and I owe it's inspiration entirely to Ciera.

* From the songwriter * At one point or another in our lives we all encounter moments when we ask ourselves "why do I let this happen?" Although this is one of the few songs of mine that isn't really about anyone specific, I feel it nicely sums up the way we all feel when someone we love can be extremely frustrating but you know you've got to push on for the ones we care about.
