This is a song about losing the father of your child. Although I don't have any children, I did lose my husband, a marine cpl in afghanistan when I was 24 (3 years ago). I found this song on my sister's computer and it made me cry the first time I heard it by the first time I heard the chorus. The first verse could sound like a deployment (being gone and the distance), but after hearing the rest it hit me too hard. I always wonder when artists write songs like this if they realize who exactly is going to affect and that there are so many war widows from the past ten years in the usa.
