I think what this song is actually trying to convey is extremely powerful yet the true meaning might actually be frightening and sad. Basically, what I take from it, is this person is contemplating suicide because someone broke their heart. They are lost: "it's all I can see when I'm lost". The only thing he can think of to do when he is in this much pain is to completely take himself out of life. Definitely a sad song but really well written.
