As a child that grew up with a father that was a very successful man and threw it all away for the life of a drug addict who ended up dying when he was 47 from an OD all alone, I felt the meaning behind this right away. But then I just recently saw a video, which shows a situation of parents leaving their children behind, so I think that is the basic theme behind it. In the video the parents were even hailed as heroes when they returned.
