This is the second song on Bob's "Uprising" album. The "Tuff Gong" was never a quitter! You must listen to the whole album to get the message Bob was putting out there. While Bob was pointing out the evil of the Babylon system in this song, he was also bemoaning the desire of many to just give up by saying there was "no use, no one can stop them now." In "Work", farther on in the album he exhorts us: "we can make it work, come together, and make it work!". He answers the naysayers in "Could you be loved? " "Don't let them fool ya, Or even try to school ya! Oh, no! We've got a mind of our own, So go to hell if what you're thinking is not right! Love would never leave us alone, A-yin the darkness there must come out to light." Bob's message is always strong! A defeatist attitude is not the message of Rastafari! We must resist the evil that is trying to overwhelm us! Never give up, never give in! He finishes by reminding us to be forever loving JAH and asks us: "Won't you help me sing, redemption songs, songs of freedom?" Don't stop with just listening to "Real situation"! Hear the whole message! Know that change will come, but not by giving up! We CAN make it work!
