Flynn has been a theif for like. Let's say most of his life time. And what do a theif want to be? Rich! It's a daydream to him in that time.
'living in a blur' means just spent his days doing what he must do but not what he wanted (maybe he doesn't even know what he want! Who knows?).
He has spent years and years in thievery, he only cared for the number of the guards, how valuable the thing is. So he never saw the way things really were.
