I love this song! They are friends for a long time. But the girl secretly loved the guy. She tried to pretend & listen to the guy whatever he shares, his ups & downs - even his lovelife; logically, it's painful for girl. But because they are friends, even if she feels sad, she's still glad to be a friend of the guy! Ouch! This is what I'm going through with. - a Friend of Mine. :)

Ouch! It's so painful to know that the person you love doesn't have the same feelings with you but still he wants to be a friend with you; he's hoping that the girl will understand & as much as he doesn't want to see the girl cry. He doesn't want to hurt the girl, but at the same time he cannot lie to himself that he doesn't really love her. I am a girl who loves a friend so much & I am going through this situation as well. It is so painful! Hoping that I gonna get over him in time, by God's grace & mercy. :)
