Haha, there is a popular paradigm of this generation that no one has the ability alter their personality or being. In general, it serves as an incredibly effective excuse to justify quite literally any behavior- no matter how morally or ethically justifiable it may be. For instance, a murderer might use the excuse that he is a murderer because he was born that way. Is that the society we really want to create?- where any action is justified and all opinions are equally valid. Whether this form of philosophy is acceptable is a different matter (although classicly disporven by Emmanuel Kant). However, I would think that even the most liberal of people would acqueisce that this is not the world we wish to make.
