I feel like this song is a sharp social commentary on early 1300s eastern Pronasia when then ruler Arterius Handrake commisioned the design of an attachment to the human body with five digits and multiple points of articulation. A great undertaking that took nearly three decades to complete by famed inventor Domin Fingerles the Hand was finished. Economy swelled with the Hand at the center. With new ways manipulating the environment and so many uses it seemed like nothing could stop the avalanche of production. Then, in 1362, it happened. In the small town of Ponchonner two gentlemen were arguing arbitrarily when suddenly one of the men swung his arm and his newly attached Hand landed squarely on the other's nose. Dark days lay ahead for Pronasia. Soon everyone was swinging and hitting and the country fell into anarchy. Handrake, seeing what terrible things he had unleashed upon the world, offed himself by choking his own neck with his first pair of prototype Hands. Fingerles was blacklisted and lost everything. He died alone at the age of 56 a raving drunk. Such is the legacy of the Hand and though many terrible things it has brought, we should forever be thankful for the many wonderful things that came of this idea!
