Call me crazy, but I believe this song is about living a meaningless life in the flesh and turning your life over to live in the spirit. It is not an actual death of the mortal body, but of crucifying the flesh. It is true living for the flesh only brings spiritual death and letting go of that is a painful process in which only the Lord can help us do, but indead is does bring new life!
