This song has a special meaning to me. When I hear this song, I feel happy, sad, angry. This song touches my soul like no other song has. When I hear "Sail", I always envision a person fighting through a mob of people. When this person reaches the main villain, he gets beaten down. As the song picks up, the person gets back up, but with more strength and energy. He finally defeats the villain and saves the person/ people he was fighting for. I find that I can relate some parts of this vision to life: Fighting to save the things/ people you love, being beat down and then slowly rising to defeat the problem. We are all still fighting this fight, this fight against an unseen villain. We are all living in our own version of "Sail".

When I was in my sophomore year of high school, I performed this song in front of my guitar class. The song feels powerful and freeing almost. I seem to be attracted towards depressing type music, this being one of those songs. Though as sad as it is, the song is calming and sobering. I understand what the song is about, but I only care how the song feels and hears when I listen or play it. Music should be more than notes and words. Songs should be alive and joyous in feeling. This song is no different in these ideas.

The song to me always puts me into a mind set of a high school hallway. The guy is singing about how he wishes he could fit in and be loved by this person he adores. Then he realizes that he can't change himself and gets angry about being different. Though as sad as this song is, it has a way of calming me down. If feel so relieved when I play this song on guitar and sing because all of the tension built up in me goes away. This song slightly reminds me that it's okay to stick out and be different. It reminds me of my insecurity and how to channel that feeling into song. The song has a lot of meaning to me and I feel everyone should hear at least once. Then again, the song has some "explicit" content in the lyrics. A song should be more than lyrics and note on a piece of paper. It should be alive and moving. It should stand out and be different. It should be a Creep, a Weirdo.

When translated from Latin the lyrics mean: The day of wrath, that day will dissolve the world in ashes, as foretold by David and the Sibyl. What trembling there will be when the Judge descends from heaven to examine all things closely. Mozart, with help, wrote this song as his requiem, song of death.
