We all know what Green Day is trying to say here- it's pretty cut and dry. I think, just like a lot of Americans, they are confused as to why we are over there in the first place. It just doesn't seem right- the ends do not justify the means. There's so much negativity to the whole concept- there is nothing to look up to. What good is coming out of it?

Nerdy, I really don't think she's trying to cover the pain. Pink is a very headstrong person and doesn't let much get to her. Her and her ex are still good friends- I even think I remember reading somewhere that they live together, but I might be wrong. I think she's doing fine and I don't see any pain behind this song. Life goes on, she knows not to take anything for granted and is learning from her mistakes.

I don't understand why people are bringing the bible into this. It's a natural part of life- I mean s*t, I'm quite spiritual myself and I kissed a girl once. Does that make me g*? No. Does that make me a sinner? No. Am I going to hell? Probably, but for difference reasons. Haha Seriously though, it's ludacris to think of this as a controversial song. It's all out of good fun. Lighten up a bit.

Thena, I was wondering the same thing myself so I googled it and found a good answer for you. "The Fray do not consider themselves a Christian band. The members of the group, though, are all Christian, and their musical background is in Church Worship Groups. Their lyrics do not openly elude to God, but, the message is there to those that actually listen and think about the lyrics and not just complacently bob their head to the music."

Okay, so after posting that last comment and listening to the song and watching the video about a million times, I have come to realize I was completely wrong. It's more about the happenings on 9/11 and how grateful he is for all the heroes that went in to help. With it all, he also realized that he could very well have been a victim of that tragic day, thus the verse "wanna hold my wife when I get home..."

Wow, where do I start with this song. This song is so deep and meaningful I get chills everytime I hear it. It kinda jumps back and forth which can make it confusing. I feel the song is a tribute to the soldiers, or maybe one inparticular, and how grateful he is. I also think that in the verse that begins "wanna hold my wife when i get home" is more of what it would be like had he joined the service. I'm not too sure the meaning behind all of it, but that's my intake. I'm looking forward for some other thoughts on this.

I feel like this song is about a father/son or mother/son relationship. It seems the son has made a lot of mistakes and disappointed his parents in some way so bad, that he wanted to ditch everything he has and run away. He finally relizes he can't keep running from them, so when he goes back he learns that there was love there all along, and he needed to have that reassurment in his life.

This song, obviously, is about a relationship. From the sounds of it, in the beginning of the relationship, it was really good, but eventually, the girl started to weave a web for some reason or another and took the boy quite sometime to figure out. Once he learned of this "web" he was faced with a difficult dicision to stay or go, but by the end of the song, he realizes it's best to cut his losses and not let her back into his heart.

Wow, how does anyone get that the idea behind thing song was a friend who got killed in a car accident? Read the first verse- car accident is extremely irrelevant and nonsensical. It's about his friend who was having a drug problem. The singer confronted him and gave him a choice to keep going in the direction he's going and eventually lose control, or break away from those he was doing the drugs with. I understand the song says "drive until you lose the road", but this is merely a metaphor. This is a very deep song and you really have to look inside to understand.
