If you come to the stage where you can say that you are depressed, there is not much you can do to escape the pain and the demons that follows. And every time you try to run away, the pain and the shadows follow you. I think that they wanted to show how hard is to escape the demons of your mind.

Because of her depression, Demi often felt in the dark, seeing no escape and she dreamed about being famous and pretty and popular and perfect. But perfect in her eyes differed from the perfection other people see in her. And because of that she only slipped deeper in that darkness she hated that much.
