"
And I'm crying in pain
For some reason, crying out, desperately wanting someone to see through the facade whilst simultaneously maintaining it. Yet everyone is fooled.

"
In the pouring rain
I'm bleeding, I die
The rain- signifying humanity- is overwhelming, and being overwhelmed by those that warrant the narrator to maintain his facade, he feels it's killing him to pretend and be insincere to himself and others.

"
And it hurries from my grasp
It runs between my fingers and my hands
It's like an echo from my past
A mere forgotten future in the sand
To every lie there exists a core of truth. As is so with the facade. It's a remnant of who he once was, a persona maintained as to hide something. He misses who once he was, though it eludes his grasp. He isn't this person anymore.

But water isn't always what you see
Another surface lies beneath
Once more, mankind is alluded to. Everyone has layers. Though, I feel this refers more intimately to the narrator; a reference to his facade.

Every raindrop looks the same
They fall without pretending through the night
An allusion to humanity. Due to social conformity, they all tend to look the same. Yet, they're not the ones who feel the need to constantly pretend and to maintain a facade.

Meaning
This song is a reference to "sleep paralysis" - which is something your body undergoes every time prior to your sleep - when one remains in a waking state when experiencing it, thus being awake and somewhat lucid when their body becomes paralyzed and they can no longer move nor cease any visions that occur as the body forces the mind through a hypnogogic state.

Meaning
This song really encompasses the entire idea of the whole album. It attempts to emulate the sound of mainstream music while simultaneously ridiculing it and its followers in lyrics. You get the idea of the whole "If you can't beat them, join them" mindset, especially when looked at in reference to how the artist's prior albums were far more unique and individual, yet made not much demand, and the album that bares this song simulates the sound of mainstream and made much more success.

Explanation
"
I missed you
Did you miss me
As was asked by a malevolent, inner personality that resides within and emerges in conjunction with this deep, slow panic experienced by artist.
