Penny's Version
If you look at the difference between Penny and Dr. Horrible, you can see that it is almost like the difference between the two types of people in this world, the ones who see it like good things will happen, no matter what, and the people who see it as something bad will always happen to good people (so why do good in the first place?) So, you can look at Penny as the good side of life, and Dr. Horrible as the people who want to see good, but they refuse to see it.
