Her love and thoughts for him prevent the dark shadows from harming or haunting him and the light can be seen at the end. The empty pages of is "life book" are beginning to be filled with writings of happiness and love.

His lonely life has dark shadows, perhaps he is haunted by paranormal activities such as ghosts hauntings and demonic activity that simply follow him because he keeps to himself. Because of his newly found love, he fights his shadow demons.

As it is leaving port, he is saddened by the fact that he will not return for many, many days, perhaps months. His sadness and broken heart are brought on because he leaves his lovely Island girl in Kingston. The further out to sea the ship sails, he is turning around, facing Kingston town in expectations to see his Island girl one more time.

He is a traveling man and experiences the nights to be cheerful and pleasant which gives him the feeling of being on top of the world. His memories of an Island where the sun shines on the mountain tops all day. His adventure on this mighty sailing ship takes him to a Caribean Island, known as Jamaica and the ship will dock at Kingston town for repairs and supplies. His time will be short in this town, but he will leave his footprint in the ever changing land.

As he walks through Kingston town, there are streets that are lined with "street vendors" peddling their goods, such as clothing, home goods, and the most popular is the vegetable, fruits, meats, and fish. The places that sell the food are what is known as "wet markets". And as he is walking past each "concession", the ladies advertise their goods by yelling to the passerby. Most will carry or "bear" the countries traditional fruit, called Akey, served with rice and salt fish. Jamaica is famous for their rum and is always good to drink anytime of the year.
