Tevye was remembering his daughter when she was younger not believing what that she grew up and is getting married in the first line and in the second he looks at the groom and remembers when the groom used to play with his new wife when they were younger and how now they grew up and are now getting married. Not to mention this all takes place at a Jewish wedding as the singer/ character watches his daughter getting married.
