    I think the song is about a person who has someone that's really special to them, whether it's a friend, lover, or just someone they admire/have a crush on. However, it does seem to be a little dark when they say "I don't think I'm ever gonna let you leave." This does show how someone would feel selfishness, trying to keep someone all to themselves and only spending time with them (hence the, being in a treehouse and only allowing the person they want to stay in it). The song frames this in a really innocent and friendly way, as treehouses are usually associated with fun and childhood. It masks the darkness.

    i am a kid in 6th grade with a home life that sucks and i have one friend and this reminds me of when i lost my friend to suicided and i used to think what this song said and it really says the more u get attached the more it hurts when they move on

    This song really hit me, because I have only one friend. I don't have a good relationship with my parents at all, because of many things that have happened in my life. My parents told to not trust anyone, but that backfired, because now I don't even trust them. Everyone in my life, I have either trusted when I shouldn't have, or grown apart. I made friends later, but left them, because of fear, demotivation to talk to people, and trust issues. Eventually I just stopped making friends knowing I was just going to leave, or they would do the same thing. I stay in my own room almost all day(my treehouse you can say) and just stay away from everyone, except my one friend. But people keep trying to come in when I don't want them to.

    This song makes me feel, everything. I love it, It makes me so happy but so sad at the same time. I mean why can't everyone just go away? So nostalgic, like I'm missing something I've never even had. It's childlike but yet it's so grown up at the same time.

    The “Why can’t everyone just exept u only u can stay” it Reminds you the person. Who u love and trust most of your life,(it could be your family member or a friend or something like that )to me this lyric reminds me of my close friend who I trust a lot ....this is just my personal opinion anyway the song is still great and one of my favorites

    I’m not sure exactly what this song is abt but I think it’s about someone who shut him/herself away because every time he/she/they fell in love he/she/they got nothing back so eventually he/she/they gave up and left everyone and kind of stayed in a prison inside their own head but meet someone who actually stays with them then he/she/they fall in love with the person but doesn’t know how to tell them

    Ok so next time you listen to this song pretend the singer is a dog in a back yard and the fence to the backyard has a sign saying “keep out” or “beware of dogs” but the dog likes you and let’s you stay. It fits way better than you are probably thinking.

    I think this song is about a young childhood crush of some kind, it's about a treehouse, stuff like "all by myself" instead of "alone". The whole "I'm the captain, but you can be the deputy".

    "I'm really glad you think I'm so funny" and "I don't think I'm ever gonna let you leave" also fit this.

    This song is so comforting. My friends are either at different schools or higher grades and no one will talk to me. My parents think I’m just trying to be a loner but I don’t have many friends because I’m just the replacement friend basically. If someone’s friend isn’t there I’ll hang out with them. Whenever new kids come I try to befriend them and then the people I hang out with when their friends aren’t there make the new kid their friend and the new kid doesn’t wanna hang out with me anymore. This song just comforts me.

    I’m a child who deals with people at school/bullying, suicidal thoughts, body dysmorphia, and a mentally abusive mom.
    This song relates to me with my own tree house I built by myself and my 1 friend. :/ thank you for making thins song it’s a good song for moments you just needs to cry.

    i think the treehouse could be literal or figurative, as someone who's autistic, i sit by myself and talk really loud because i feel like im the only person who can really understand me. the person the singer speaks about is someone i visualize as a close friend. "im the captain, but you can be the deputy." is letting a person in. having someone you can trust nearly as much as yourself. i have trouble letting that friend in on things sometimes, which is why this line is perfect to showing that while the singer doesn't trust the person as much as themself, they trust them alot. "im really glad you think im so funny" is the singer feeling assured that their friend likes them and willingly wants to stay. "i dont think im ever gonna let you leave" is a line i don't think has a literal meaning, more like "youre always gonna be my friend" it feels like the singer really trusts the person and lets them in. throughout the song its just a feeling of everyone misunderstanding you except for one person, which is how i feel alot.

    This song reminds me of my 4th grade self and how I had very few friends and was really possessive of my friend who i was obsessed with and had a crush on. I think that’s what the “never gonna let you leave” line means, like a kid who is possessive of their friend.

    I trinken that this Song means that her head is the treehouse were sie lets no one in exept "him". Sie seid its wäre i sit AMD talk really Loud. That could mean that she Screams in her head or cries like the most of us do aswell. Or the Part were sie sings "im the captain but you can be the deputy" it could mean that shes the Boss of her head but exept that He is there or even want Him there. I cant explain All because it World last to lang but i hope you unverstanden what i meant. (Btw english isnt my mother languageso please excuse my bad gramma )
