Yo La Tengo – Moby Octopad lyrics

Locked in a kiss, outsiders cease to exist
We'll shut it out (of the fist)
Outsiders cease to exist
We'll shut it out

Eight o'clock, the lights are on at Shea
Phone turned down, we've nothing much to say
Dozing off the TV drones
House key makes them turn and glance for home

Locked in a kiss, outsiders cease to exist
Flayed of the fist
Outsiders cease to exist
We'll shut it out

The lyrics are incorrect here. YLT are avid Mets fans. The chorus refers to lazily watching a Mets game on a summer evening, dozing off while listening to the game description from the TV. First line is obvious, "It's 8 o'clock, the lights are at Shea," as a TV announcer would typically note fir a mud summer night game, especially long time Mets announcer Bob Murphy. The last two lines should be:

    Dozing off, the TV drones,
"Husky makes the turn and heads for home."

So, the Mets broadcast is being watched, the person watching half napping while the TV play by play announcer describes Husky - as in former Mets player Butch Husky - rounds third to try to score.

As for the rest of it, who knows. But I am certain the above is correct.
