Stevie Nicks – Gypsy lyrics

So Iґm back to the velvet underground,
Back to the floor that I love,
To a room with some lace and paper flowers,
Back to the gypsy that I was,
To the gypsy that I was,
Doo, doo, doo, doo.
And it all comes down to you.
Well, you know that i does.
Well, lightning strikes,
Maybe once, maybe twice.
Ah, and it lights up the night.
And you see your gypsy,
You see your gypsy.
To the gypsy that remains,
Who faces dreedom with a little fear,
I have no fear, I have only love.
And if I was a child, and the child was enough,
Enough for me to love, enough to love.
She is dncing away from me now.
She was just a wish,
She was just a wish,
And a memory is all that is left for you now.
You see your gypsy, oh,
You see your gypsy, ooh, ah.
You see your gypsy, you see your gypsy.

At a recent concert (2015) Stevie Nicks shared that this song is about her going to a famous clothes shop (The Velvet Underground) in San Francisco. The clothes at that time were well out of her price range, but as she stood there she was very much hit by the sense that really famous women had stood in that exact same spot. On that small circular wooden floor others who she really admired had spent time. For a few minutes she was overcome by the feeling that she really could succeed and the message that she had to believe in herself. This inspired both her song and dancing for Gypsy. There are lots of different places that inspire us but her message was "if you have a dream chase it and never let anyone put you down or tell you that you aren't good enough, that you're too fat, ugly, not bright enough or don't have the talent".
