there is nothing left of a relationship and this is just the decay of the relationship. He's explaining the fibre of what this or what it felt like. The pain feels kind of ethereal and like an out of body expirence because the feeling i get from this song and i listened 4 times in a row. Personally for me the song is soo beautiful that it really is hard not to cry. This song makes you think of someone that you didn't want to let go of but you had to for your own sanity and you kind of blame yourself for being weak enough to let them in. So the use of the words i was only falling in love connects because it's showing the innocents of the persons intensions with the person. How dare they make you feel bad for something so innocent you know ????

I feel like the lyric "I was only falling in love" is trying to downplay the singer's emotions by not making it seem like it's that big of a deal, but falling in love is a huge deal. The singer has been hurt so many times by this one person but they keep letting this toxic person back into his life because he "was only falling in love". "Heavy like the force between us" This relationship is weighing down the singer and making him feel heavy but the singer believes that their relationship is strong and heavy. They're having a hard time letting go of this toxic person because they truly do still love them. That's just how I interpret the song at least.

the lyric "i was only falling in love" literally is the saddest lyric I've ever heard. it sounds like his voice is breaking with his heart in that lyric. i was only falling in love. something so simple had such a deep meaning. and the lyric "heavy like the force between us" sounds like there's unresolved feelings and its weighing his heart down

I see the lyric "I was only falling in love" as him explaining that he was starting the beginning of being in love and how innocent the situation was and how badly he was treated. It represents to me, him telling the listeners that he was just trying to fall in love. This song is such a beautiful song. It give you that euphoric kinda heartbreak emotions at the same time. Have listened to this song on repeat as RY X, was just trying to fall in love.

everyone talks about falling in love, but have you ever thought about the falling part? to me the falling part is this song you're falling when you're in love and you can't let go of that person you felt so deeply for in breaks you but what breaks you makes you.

This song reminds me so much of a relationship where the two of you were deeply in love. Everything was perfect until it wasn't. You had to let this person go when you still had so much for them. Hencing the "heavy like the force between us," which sounds like this person's unresolved feelings are weighing down on you and are all you can think about. The "i was only falling in love" part to me seems like this person was only falling in love with someone and didn't mean to get this deep into something.
