This songs means the girl decide to leave while she's still in love with this guy coz it's better to leave staying in love rather to leave full of hatred. The girl knows it's for the best. Maybe the girl gets tired of so much hurt and she decided that it's enough she had given so much love with this guy. But in return this guy never love her coz if this guy love her he won't do anything to hurt her feelings n make her cry n make her feel insecure. If this guy really love him he will never do anything to hurt her all he must do is to make the girl feel loved, cared, respected, and secured.

You're all wrong. She's saying relationships always end, with one of the people getting a broken heart, usually her. So rather than wait for that ending and being hurt again, she would rather leave before it ends and have the fantasy that it would have lasted forever. It has nothing to do with her dying. There is no fantasy to have, broken heart or hurt for her if she dies.

I agree totally to the above meaning. I'm in that same exact situation as that person described above. It's best to leave while you are still full of love for that man and you are leaving him because the love you have for him is unreciprocated and you realized this soon enough and to avoid being hurt so deeply with the actual goodbyes. You finally made a decision to just leave him with your love for him still intact. This is the best thing to do.

I saw her perform this song in person a very long time ago and at that time I thought it meant that it's best to leave in love instead of hate. But now that I'm older I revisited the lyrics and I think it means that if she should die she left still in love and that he should carry on with out her. That would be the only way she would ever leave. If he wakes to find her gone is meaning her soul has left. And her love is eternal for him.
