P.O.D. – Youth Of The Nation lyrics
Last day of the rest of my life
I wish I would have known cause I'd have kissed my momma goodbye.
I didn't tell her that I loved her or how much cared or thank my
Pops for all the talks and all the wisdom he shared.
Unaware I just did what I always do.
Everyday the same routine before I skate off to school
But who knew that this day wasn't like the rest,
Instead of takin the test I took two to the chest.

Call me blind but I didn't see it comin and
Everybody was runnin but I couldn't
Hear nothin, except gun blast, it happened so fast
I didn't really know this kid though I sat by him in class.
Maybe this kid was reachin' out for love or
Maybe for a moment he forgot who he was or
Maybe this kid just wanted to be hugged,
Whatever it was I know it's because

Chorus
We are, We are (We are) the youth of the nation (repeat) x4

Little Suzie she was only twelve
She was given the world with every chance to excel
Hang with the boys and hear the stories they tell
She might act kinda proud but no respect for herself

She finds love in all the wrong places
The same situations but just different faces.
Changed up her pace since her daddy left her
Too bad he never told her she deserved much better.

Johnny boy always played the fool,
He broke all the rules so you would think he was cool
.
He was never really one of the guys
No matter how hard he tried,
Often thought of suicide

It's kinda hard when you ain't got no friends,
He put his life to an end they might remember him then
.
You cross a line and there is no turnin back
He told the world how he felt with the sound of a gat
.

Chorus x4

Who's to blame for the life that tragedies claim?
No matter what you say it won't take away the pain
That I feel inside, I'm tired of all the lies
Don't nobody know why
It's the blind leadin' the blind.
Guess that's the way that the story goes,
Will it ever make sense somebody's gotta know,
There's gotta be more to life than this,
There's got to be more to everything
I thought exists

We are, We are the youth of the nation (x2)
We are, We are, (We are, We are) the youth of the nation (x6)
We are the youth of the nation (x3)
The youth of the nation (x3)

The real meaning of this song is:.
We never know what can happen, and we can't take life for granted. We need to learn from our mistakes and ask forgiveness for what we know we have done wrong. We need to thank god for eeach and everyday of life he allows us all, we never know when our end is coming. We could last until the end of the world, tilour bodies give up, or til somethin tragic happens that we can't turn back the clock. He allows us that one more day. Andabout susie and johnny boy, there are so many people out there who do what they do, who feel the way they do. Its just not funny, and its not a joke. This is life, and we only have one chance to live it and make it right. Once we're done, we don't come back here. I am 14 almost 15 and I know what this is all about. This is life.

To me, this song is an emotional view of our society and how messed up alot of us are. I am still a teen, and know how a lot of my friends are. I hang out with emokids, and know how their thoughts are. However, I also know that its not just the emos that think all messed up like that. I rly hope that some other teens get the same meaning that I do, because there is rly a message behind the words.

This song is very true kids have be commiting suicide for a long time because they feel no one cares or because they feel unloved we now you think. We are the future of this nation. That scares me because us kids are doing drugs, breaking laws, hurting other, joining gangs, killing people, and much more terialbe things! The adults try to help but what we really need is to help each other because when most kids hear something from an adult they think its stupid. Peers need to help each other take a good road. We can't always do everthing right but we atleast can try to make sure to better than before. At school that's where kids have most of their trouble people making fun of, having no friends, being bullied! Help one another through hard times be there for each other trust me 1 person can make this diference. When I met some one that had no friends she told me no would care if she were to die I told I did and that with out her ill have one to cal a friend. Soon we had more people and we help make them want to be there to know that they matter we were making their live happier. I hope you all reach out to someone that need help some one sitting by their self, or never talk try to make freinds and youll notice that we can help change the kids most have become.

It's hard being a kid, and everyone who says it isn't needs to think back and take a look at their own childhood; if it was good, they were lucky, if it was bad, well, they don't have a right to say childhood is easy.
Everyone makes a big deal out of peer pressure and bulling, and a lot of people think that it's not quite that big a deal; it's only inflated a little. Those things happen, they're real, and everyone has a breaking point where they can change, or even end their own lives. It's not a good thing, and this song helps show that.
Thanks to everyone who knows what it's like to be a kid and has no illusions.

The first little bit of this song is actually about the shooting of a high school. They were recording a song a shooting was 2 blocks away. It's from a point of view of one of the boys that got shot that day. Sue who loves an is always getting used by the boys around an Johnny boy wished he could have friends but he is a outcast an ends up killing himself. So people would finally care. These are feelings that kids do really have and it's truly sad I listen to this song an wow this is 2016. And things will never get better but it's the youth of a nation and nobody cares nothing's changed bulling is still going on and has actually got worse and no one is fighting for those poor innocent kids.

Kinda a funny story, I looked up youth of the nation and accidentally put youth of a nation and there was this link that popped up about a sociology class there was this professor who was talking about the song and if you combined youth of a nation together as one word and said it really fast you would come up with the word euthafanasia (i forget exactly how it's spelled so bear with me here people) which means "to kill ourselves" or "assisted suicide". Just a little food for thought.
