Check out romans 13: 11-14. "the hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the lord jesus christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature. "

Our time is short on earth and we need not to waste it. Our time is precious and we are called to witness to others.

I take it to mean that without knowing god and jesus, you are not truely alive. It's like going through life asleep and settling for the scaps of the world. Momentary happiness in a life of emptiness. Wake up and see all god is offering and experience true joy. Then the burdens of the world will not hold you down, for you know god has greater plans for you. Just wake up!
