Metric – Speed The Collapse lyrics
All the way from where we came,
We built a mansion in a day,
Distant lightning, thunder claps,
Watched our neighbor's house collapse,
Looked the other way
.

And then the storm was overhead,
All the oceans boil and river's bled.
We auctioned off our memories in the absence of a breeze
Scatter what remains, scatter what remains.

Pushed away and I'm pulled toward,
A come down of revolving doors.
Every warning we ignored,
Drifting in from distant shores.
The wind presents a change of course,
Second reckoning of sorts,
We were wasted waiting for a come down of revolving doors.

(Fate don't fail me now)

And when the days that followed past,
In another mansion built to last.
From our window we could see,
Only possibilities down the road and back.
But, then the storm returned for more,
In a come down of revolving doors.
Auction off our memories in the absence of a breeze.
Scatter what remains, scatter what remains.

Pushed away and I'm pulled toward,
A come down of revolving doors.
Every warning we ignored,
Drifting in from distant shores.
The wind presents a change of course,
Second reckoning of sorts,
We were wasted waiting for a come down of revolving doors.

(Fate don't fail me now)
(Fate don't fail me now)
(Fate don't fail me now)
(Fate don't fail me now)

In general I think the song is about being unaffected by things until they happen to us, in this case a hurricane. We don't care because were sitting in our "mansions" living it good, and because the "absence of a breeze", we assume it wont happen to us so it doesn't matter. I think the third verse, before the hurricane came back for more, indicates that we are only looking to our own futures.
I think the come down of revolving doors is the trickier bit. Id say it represents modern technology for a bit but the nature of a revolving door is you push the panel in front of you, but there is a potential for the panel behind you to hit you.
So basically we don't help others because we are pushing forwards with our own lives. The result of this is others wont help us because they need to look out for themselves, as we clearly aren't looking out for them. Which forms a cycle, which I guess kind of metaphor for the spinning hurricane or revolving doors.
