Linkin Park – Burning In The Skies lyrics
I used the deadwood to make the fire rise
The blood of innocence burning in the skies
I filled my cup with the rising of the sea
And poured it out in an ocean of debris

Ooooooooh!

[Chorus:]
I'm swimming in the smoke
Of bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve

What I don't deserve

We held our breath when the clouds began to form
But you were lost in the beating of the storm
And in the end we were made to be apart
In separate chambers of the human heart

Nooooooo!

[Chorus:]
I'm swimming in the smoke
Of bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve

It's in the blackened bones
Of bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve

What I don't deserve

(Solo)

[Chorus:]
I'm swimming in the smoke
Of bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve

The blame is mine alone
For bridges I have burned
So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve

What I don't deserve
What I don't deserve
What I don't deserve

I used the deadwood to make the fire rise
The blood of innocence burning in the skies

I may be wrong but I think this song can relate to relaionships. Maybe a guy or a girl. Has taken advantage of their girlfriend/boyfriend (by that I mean cheating) and if they Try to imply in some way that this song is how they feel towards you than maybe they feel like you can do much Better than them.(when Chester says "dont apologize I'm loosing what I don't deserve", I think this is what he means) also when he says "at the end we were always ment to be apart like the separate chambers of the human hearts", by that I think he is stating that after all that you have been through with your other half maybe you were never ment to be together because you are different as in one good and one evil (as someone stated something about good an evil before).

The overall meaning of the song is "I have taken advantage of you, don't be sorry, it's my mistake."
From the part "I'm swimming in the smoke" - it means I am feeling weak and suffocating because of what I did.
"Bridges I have burned" - me taking advantage of a part of our connection.
"So don't apologise" - you don't have to be sorry for what I am feeling (feeling from "swimming").
"What I don't deserve" - you are too high for me and need someone better whereas I shouldn't use people like you.

I think. The first verse says:
"i hurt so many people in my life and that has become so spreading, and i headed to the same path making what's coming the oblivion of what's done"
    Chorus:
"i'm in the middle of my bad deeds and don't be sorry for me because i'm responsible of my own doings"
    2nd verse:
"we (the good and the bad) tried to carry on but the good one has been hurt in the evil world... that's why Good & Evil are made separate and that is seen in the human hearts "
    I think so.

For me the song burning in the sky represent a particular situation:-
when the nobel personality have died after completing there jobs of bridging the gap between people of different sect and community, bringing the growth and technological advancement with the sole criteria of having respect in coming generation perspective and getting heaven for themself but.
They don't see that- they see contrary to their thoughts of there own.
For me- as if they are seeing all this and singing the song. They don't get heaven for there deeds. To see what they actually did and what its reflection.

Whether it's in the family or of a friend, this song speaks to me of ruined relationships and lost opportunities.
Essentially, it speaks to me of my country, and everything we have done as a race. For everything we've gained and built. We still have nothing but what we leave behind after death. We won't take it with us.
And that means we're leaving behind scars and debris. The remains of what we've committed.

I think it's about someone deliberately burning the bridges in their relationship in order to leave an abusive relationship.
    "So don't apologize
    I'm losing what I don't deserve
What I don't deserve" means don't apologize, it was my fault I let you abuse me - Then, essentially, I'm losing your abusiveness that I don't deserve....

I think it goes both ways. You burn bridges, or sever ties, sure. But "what i dont deserve" could be things that you don't deserve to have (good things that you lose) or also bad things that you shouldn't have to deal with. Yes, I like this song, because everyone has people they have lost, and situations they have created. Also, everyone has things they don't deserve, or people in their lives who mistreat them (which they don't deserve too).
Thank you linkin park for putting these situations into words (and song).

Lamentation song from oppenheimer's(you. S. Scientist) point of view. He watched the 1st bomb test & realized its potential. He had designed the bombs that eventually destroyed innocents in hiroshima/nagasaki in ww2. Later, he was disgraced because he refused to do it again & was branded a "communist". He died a disgraced man as the respect he had earned with his bomb-design which gave power to you. S. A, was taken away when the government turned on him. He lost respect & honor that he had never deserved in the first place.

"burning bridges" is a common metaphor for ruining a relationship. Usually out of anger and before you realize what you're doing. Have you ever heard the term 'burnt bridges are hard to cross'? It's the same meaning. He ruined a relationship (probably more tahn one) and is now telling the person(s) that what he said wasn't true. So don't apologize. I don't deserve you anyway. It's quite sad, and I can relate to this song very well.

This song was made for me.
Recently I've been talking to this girl who I like but hadn't realized all the way yet.
Then when another girl came along I chased her and after I realized I had made a mistake it was too late.
The girl I actually liked moved on and now she tells me how she's sorry that thing ended the way they did.
She keeps apologizing but I tell her I'm to blame for everything for being blind.
"i'm swimming in the smoke, of bridges i have burned", I'm sadder than ever, I have to get her back, "i'm losing what i don't deserve", "the pain is mine alone, of bridges i have burned"

This might sound weird, but whenever I think of this song I relate it to 9/11. "The blood of innocence burning in the skies" being all the innocent people who died in the plane and in the buildings. "Poured it out in an ocean of debris." Being all the debris from the buildings falling. "Swimming in the smoke" being all the smoke from the buildings. "We held our breathe when the clouds began to form. But you were lost in the beating of the storm. and in the end we were made to be apart." Being when the towers were hit or fell and the person he is talking about died in the crash. For him saying the blame his alone he could be talking about all the sins him or the nation as a whole we have commited and now bad is happening to us/him. Just how I see it.

The beginning of the song almost sets this whole thing up to be about humans poluting the earth. "I filled my cup with the rising of the sea" - Sea levels are rising with the melting of the poles. "I poured it out in an ocean of debris" - still now, we use the ocean as a dumpsite for waste.
The 'blood of innocence' could be the oil we drill from the ground, it being the 'blood' of the world.
We are losing the world, but we ruined it to begin with. What the speaker is saying here is how he knows he's losing the world, but he also realize by the way he treated the world, he didn't deserve it in the first place.

In Reply to Osameez / I am doing an song analysis based on " Burning in the skies " and I really need any possible information. It is for an exam and one of the questions asks for other peoples opinions, personally I think that this song could relate to different true or deeper meanings. One of them being people taking advantage of what nature has to offer and referring to what Earth is saying; using 'i", it is edited in the chorus so that it comes across as carcasm and my other meaning of the song is similar to yours. And Yes Linkin Parks actual instrumentals are great too.

My interpretation of this song is about how we (humans) have mistreated the environment and it even could relate to things such as hiroshima but I also have another interpretation. The other one is that these people in the film clip have hurt a lot of people and "burned a lot of bridges" to get what they want but instead of achieveing success they achieved failure and that they eventually come to regret that they burned these bridges and mistreated the people they have met in their life, whether it be friends or family. This is just my 2 cents however. This interpretation does relate to me in a way. As I am only young I have already buuned a couple of bridges and mistreated and hurt a lot of people to get what I want and every day I feel haunted by some of that guilt. It truly is a horrible feeling to have but in the end I deserve it I guess. I guess as a sign of karma my old friends eventually burned bridges with me so I guess karma does exist. Damn I went a bit off topic haha. But ah well this is all just my 2 cents.
