Lifehouse – Here Tomorrow Gone Today lyrics
You got what you wanted
The world on a string
Found your Madonna
And lost everything
We all had your back
And watched you run away
Always here tomorrow and gone today
Always here tomorrow and gone today

You're all talk and nothing to say
We don't want, don't want what you're giving away
Know how to move and you know how to shake
We don't want, don't want what you're giving away

Walking disaster soaking up space
Just a matter of time before you show your second face
A maniacal master of getting your way
Always here tomorrow and gone today

You're all talk and nothing to say
We don't want, don't want what you're giving away
Know how to move and you know how to shake
We don't want, don't want what you're giving away

Got style but you got no game
We don't want, don't want what you're giving away
Always looking for somebody to play
We don't want, don't want what you're giving away

You're all talk and nothing to say
We don't want, don't want what you're giving away
Know how to move and you know how to shake
We don't want, don't want what you're giving away

Got style but you got no game
We don't want, don't want what you're giving away
Always looking for somebody to play
We don't want, don't want what you're giving away

I feel this is about those people who A. Try too hard to please people and/or B. The people who make many promises/plans and get people wrapped around their little finger and play them as puppets, and end up doing whatever they feel like doing with no regard to the others they are hurting. I don't believe many of them intend to hurt anyone, they feel an advantage of having a lot to choose from and in the end pick what's best for them. What they don't realize is the point of view of the singer, which they are viewing these people as players. Know how to move and know how to shake (know how to get people to like you and want to be your friend), got style but have no game (you are attractive and make people want to be around you), all talk (making plans and promises) and nothing to say (when the time comes they're nowhere to be found). Always looking for someone to play (getting options to pick from, and disregarding the others you made plans with).

Some people have a lot of family, a lot of friends, a lot of both. Sometimes its hard to consider hundreds of people who want your time. Sometimes when these hundreds of people have nobody else to identify with they feel outcast, forgotten, and ignored when you make other plans. Well, when the person has all that people pleasing pressure, how do they feel when people get upset with them for forgetting or cancelling plans? Sometimes it's a double-edged sword being nice to everyone. And for the people who are "forgotten and ignored", when you continue to feel this way about people, you react in certain ways that don't seem attractive to the people you want attention from. If we get over our emotions and try to see the big picture... We notice the pictures of other's lives are like a huge jigsaw puzzle and all you see are the first couple pieces of their life. How much of it do you understand? Sure you want to see more. Work with what you got. Be considerate. Eventually you'll get your time with them.

I think this song is really about people. It's about people who are usually in our lives and all of a sudden they are gone like the wind. It's like they disappeared in your life and you never hear or speak or see them again. I realized that people have their own life to live and they have to prioritize the things that they have to prioritize and it's very understandable why they have to be gone in our lives. For the person who made the first meaning, you have a good interpretation. Thank you for your thoughts about this song. I think the best solution is to choose those family and friends or people in one's life who are the most important to you and be honest with those people that you can't spend your time with and in the end, they will not feel forgotten or ignored because you explained the real reason why you can't talk, see, or be in their life regularly or permanently. I guess you have hundreds of people in your life, hope they would be considerate with you and you'll get your time with them.- Seldom visitor of this site
