Kina Grannis – Cambridge lyrics
Just give it to me quick
Are you coming home?
Don't dance around it

I need to hear this
I chose you long ago
Have you chosen me yet?

'Cause I'm starting to wear thin, find it harder to forgive
Every time you let us slip down your list of priorities

I'm waiting for you to finally say you are here and here to stay
But darling, if you know that it's through
You can't keep doing what you do
Is it time to let go of you

Now please don't take this wrong
You know I want you
But don't think I won't move on

'Cause I'm starting to wear thin, find it harder to forgive
Every time you let us slip down your list of priorities

I'm waiting for you to finally say you are here and here to stay

But darling, if you know that it's through
You can't keep doing what you do
Is it time to let go of you

You once whispered words to me
Wondering if anybody loved each other like we do

I'm waiting for you to finally say you are here and here to stay
But darling, if you know that it's through
You can't keep doing what you do
Is it time to let go of you
Time to let go of you
Time to let go of you

I personally think in this song, the girl is trying to express to her lover to make the choice whether or not he's in the relationship to be committed. He may be going through a phase where he's still searching or maybe being in a relationship is the least of his priorities and I guess she just wants to know. Every relationship shouldn't be based off of playing games on each other but should be based on the foundation of building a relationship that may lead towards marriage. If the guy isn't in the relationship to be committed. Ofcourse she's saying. Stop wasting my time and making me be miserable because you're still undecided.
I've experienced this within a 6 year period with my ex boyfriend. He was never sure of whether or not he wanted to be with me and he was always the one to break it off and always the one to come back. Things went so wrong within the relationship that through the last months of us struggling to keep our relationship, this same question, just like the song, I kept asking him as well. Still he was unsure until something had happened and I chose to leave him and let him go. It was hard at first but it needed to be done. Not because I can do better or because I deserve better (ofcourse anyone can), but because I needed restoration. Ofcourse even though it's been only a few months since our break up, who knows where God is going to lead us next?

The girl (narrator) really loves this boy and would do anything for him and he claims that he loves her but doesn't show it which makes her think that she loves him more than he loves her. And she has been waiting for a long time for him to prove it to her because she buys all his words but he hasn't and she realizes now that she can't keep waiting and hurting and maybe thinks it might be time to move on even if it is hard, but she knows now she deserves better.

The song for me means that the relationship is slowly dying things between them is starting to get cold the writer of this song is doing the best she can to save the relationship and as much as possible wants to fight for their love for each other but how can you fight for something if the other had already given up. All she is waiting for her partner to tell her that he loves her so much and would also do everything to fight for their relationship. And that he truly loves her and won't give up on their relationship that easy.

This song gave me a feeling that there is no more sparks in the relationship and the guy has taken her for granted for years, dragging the time and keep moving on with the relationship for the sake of the 'relationship'. But the girl is tired of waiting as the guy doesn't seems to make any effort to improve the relationship. That's why the girl mentioned, 'you can't keep doing what you do', 'i'll stand without you, look how I have grown', 'it's time to let go of you'. Indeed a very sad song.

Exactly. I believe this song means a girl who doesn't know if she should leave or stay and wait for her boy (who I think attends Cambridge University). College seriously takes a lot out of a person. Personally, that's exactly what I'm going through. As my boyfriend is busy with his school that has him travel everywhere. I hope and pray we make it. Growing up is hard. But necessary.
